Stay tuned for information on the 2010 National College Student Grief Awareness Week. The goal of this week is to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of coping with the illness or death of a loved one during college and to spread the word about National Students of AMF.
We have many opportunities for volunteers to help plan the week or become an Awareness Week Leader. All ages (not just college students) are welcome. If you would like to get involved, please email Staci at staci@studentsofamf.org.
Here's what we did in 2009!

2009 schedule of events
Everyday April 19-25: Share with others about the cause; wear black & red (colors of this cause) clothing.
Day Zero (April 18): “Getting Ready” – Forward newsletter from National Students of AMF to your email list and visit www.StudentsofAMF.org to learn more info that you can share; Create a facebook event for the National College Student Grief Awareness week and invite all of your friends
Day One (April 19): Send a facebook message and/or email to all of your friends with the link to the 2 minute TODAY show story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxgnQUIyMow). Day Two (April 20): Pass out flyers (in this packet) to friends and ask them to pass them out to other friends. Wear a National Students of AMF T-shirt today, if you have one. Day Three (April 21): Write a card, send an email, or call someone who you know is either ill or coping with the illness or death of a loved one letting them know that you are there for them (even if the loss was years ago, it will still mean so much!). Day Four (April 22): Send an e-mail to, write a card, or call people not at your school (family, friends, etc.) saying: “National Students of AMF is a support network for college students, who are coping with the illness or death of a loved one. Unfortunately, this is a really big population on college campuses and, as you can imagine, something that is very difficult to deal with. Their website is studentsofamf.org . The organization means a lot to me and I wanted to share it with you, so that you can also share it with others too.” Day Five (April 23): Do something today to honor a loved one that you have lost. This could be anything from doing their favorite activity to making sure to reach out to others in ways that you may not normally. Day Six (April 24): Watch and encourage at least 10 of your friends to watch the 2-minute Brick Award video about National Students of AMF (at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSEs34DyCUw) Day Seven (April 25): Spread the word with friends and family about the upcoming National Conference on College Student Grief on August 14-15 in Raleigh, NC (anyone interested is invited to check out our website for more information and come!) and the Boot Camp 2 Beat Cancer & Family Fun Walk on August 15 in Raleigh, NC (anyone interested is invited to check out our website for more information and come!).
April 26 and beyond: Continue to spread the word about National Students of AMF!
