RALEIGH, N.C. (March, 8, 2010) – You’re a college student, away from home, and you get word that your mom has passed away. Shocked and saddened, you seek a shoulder to cry on or comfort during your time of need.
National Students of AMF, a nonprofit founded in Raleigh in 2006, provides support for college students coping with the illness, or grieving the death, of a loved one. To continue to provide assistance to college students, the National Students of AMF’s annual fundraising event, the 2nd Annual Spring Soiree, will be held on March 26, 2011 at The Stockroom at 203 in downtown Raleigh at 7 p.m. All proceeds will be used to support college students who need help coping during times of despair. The night will feature silent and live auctions, food by Caffe Luna, and music by Back ‘N Time.
“The Spring Soiree brings everyone together to celebrate the positive impact we’ve had on a college student’s life,” said David Fajgenbaum, Raleigh resident and co-founder of National Students of AMF, whose mother Anne Marie Fajgenbaum, passed away from brain cancer when he was in his first year in college. “When my mom passed away in 2004, I promised her that I would create an outlet for college students, who, like me, were coping with a loved one’s illness or death and were suffering in silence. The energy generated by the event will make a difference for college students in need.”
