37 Chapters of Students of AMF Have Been Launched on Campuses Nationwide!

May 25, 2007

In just two years since David Fajgenbaum began the first chapter of Students of AMF at Georgetown in memory of his mother, Anne Marie Fajgenbaum (AMF), the dedicated Students of AMF volunteers have worked with students and administrators from across the country to launch 37 chapters!

The National Students of AMF (Ailing Mothers & Fathers) Support Network’s mission is to provide support to college student across the country with an ailing or deceased loved one and to empower college students to fight back against terminal illness. This is done primarily through establishing chapters of Students of AMF on college campuses across the country.

Campus chapters are designed to meet the needs of grieving college students through a peer-led support group, a service group of bereaved and non-bereaved students, an “Angels” faculty mentoring program, and a SAINTS (Students of AMF Involved in Nearby Teen Support) program for grieving children in the community.

In addition to starting chapters of Students of AMF, the National Network also provides interactive e-support online, awards scholarships and research grants, conducts conferences on college student bereavement, and holds fundraising events – including the annual Boot Camp 2 Beat Cancer.
