David Fajgenbaum

David Fajgenbaum, Co-Founder & Board Chair


David (Georgetown, BS '07; Oxford, MSc Public Health '08), a medical student at the University of Pennsylvania (MD '12), founded Students of AMF in loving memory of his mother, Anne Marie Fajgenbaum, at Georgetown University in the fall of 2004. At Georgetown, David created the Students of AMF Support Network, developed the Support Network into a national, nonprofit organization along with co-founder, Ben Chesson (National Students of AMF) , and conducted research for his senior thesis on college student bereavement. For his outstanding leadership and achievements, he was one of 12 2007 BRICK Award winners in North America for being a young person who has “changed the world” and one of 20 college students in the US named to the 2007 USA TODAY Academic All-America First Team. In April 2008, he was named one of ten Reader's Digest "Make it Matter" stories of the month and his story was also picked up and aired by NBC's "The Today Show".  He recently completed a Master's in Public Health with a focus on cancer prevention at Oxford University as the 2007 Allbritton Scholar.  He is supported in all that he does by his friends and family (Father: David; Sisters: Lisa and Gena).
