Fajgenbaum awarded summer research grant to explore university policies for bereaved students

April 15, 2006

David Fajgenbaum (NHS '07): This summer Mr. Fajgenbaum will be doing research on the effects of losing a loved one during the college years and what universities are doing to support these grieving college students.  The work will involve a review of the literature on mourning, best practices for supporting bereaved students, surveys of university administrators and interviews with experts.  David will look at the 31 COFHE (Consortium of Financing Higher Education) institutions and 9 public universities.  He expects that this research will have a tremendous impact on addressing grieving college student’s needs by finding the current practices by universities and reporting statistics on the frequency of these programs.
